We are currently seeking an

Associate Director Core Facility Cytometry and Automation

to support our team in the development of innovative immunotherapeutic products. You will work in Tübingen (Germany) in an interdisciplinary environment with colleagues from all research as well as business development and intellectual property departments. Your analytical reasoning and action-oriented style as well as your organization and communication skills will contribute to the team’s success. This is a permanent position.

The Global Core Facility Cytometry and Automation includes all Flow Cytometers, sorters and automation platforms run at the Immatics’ sites in Houston (TX) and Tübingen. The team acts as a kind of service provider for the internal R&D departments and plays a key role by providing and operating flow cytometry device and automation capacities. In addition, it contributes to the Company’s technology advancements and their implementation in routine workflows.

Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Lead the global Flow Cytometry Core Facility team; oversee, prioritize and coordinate the team´s tasks
  • Directly interact and collaborate with scientific and operational stakeholders as well as (future) partners and vendors
  • Oversee the quality of flow cytometry and automation-assisted data
  • Maintain compliance with external regulations and internal policies
  • Closely monitor and understand the requirements of the users and ensure their implementation
  • Provide a long-term strategic planning to enable adaptation to a constantly changing research environment; actively anticipate and scout technological advancements and offer these to the departments

Your Profile

You hold a PhD degree in life sciences and have relevant industry or CRO experience. You have a proven track record and 5+ years hands-on experience in experimental immunology as well as cellular and molecular biology in the context of clinical trials. In addition, you are an expert in flow cytometry assay design, development, troubleshooting, validation, and clinical implementation on a broad array of platforms. Experience with complex flow cytometry and Tecan automation is mandatory. 3-5+ years of professional experience in a GCLP environment and quality-related experience as well as in leading a team is an advantage.

We expect a high degree of independent working and analytical reasoning and decision-making skills. You have excellent communication skills, both in English and German, and you are familiar with the requirements of commercial business and interaction with external partners. You are conversant with the establishment of quality assurance systems and you take careful editing and documenting of your results for granted. You embrace rapidly changing requirements with an open mind, think outside the box and show a high degree of flexibility in an environment which is marked by a constant striving for excellence. Your motivation is driven by your dedication to innovation and science. You approach tasks in a structured, reliable and foresighted manner, combined with an elevated level of individual responsibility, enthusiasm and strong social skills. Prior line management experience is a must. Regular travel activity for your global responsibility is required.
