Overview
We are currently seeking a Linux System Administrator* to strengthen our global IT department. You will work on-site or hybrid in Tübingen, Germany in an interdisciplinary environment with Bioinformatics and scientific colleagues from Germany and the US (Houston, TX).
Your mission
Your main responsibilities will be to support our Bioinformatics and scientific teams and include but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Administration of virtual Linux (Ubuntu) servers, e.g., server setup, security, maintenance, updates, upgrades, network configuration
- Change management, documentation, and updates of server and application configuration
- Resource management administration for our in-house computing cluster
- 2nd and 3rd level troubleshooting
Your profile
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field or have successfully completed an education as an IT Specialist for system administration. Ideally, you have 3-5 years of professional experience and knowledge of computing environments, cluster management tools such as VMware, and network configuration and security best practices. Knowledge of Bioinformatics and Microsoft Domain-Administration is an advantage. Your competence and experience and your excellent communication skills enable you to successfully contribute to enabling scientific discoveries driven by high-throughput data analysis.
