Overview
A full-time Research Associate I/II is available in the Translational Flow Cytometry Core (TFCC) at Immatics in Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible primarily for the daily operation of a cell sorter and supporting users of multiple flow cytometers in the lab. This is an excellent opportunity to join a core lab to develop and/or expand career skills and knowledge in a growing field.
Your mission
Essential functions:
- Perform daily routine equipment calibration and maintenance according to established SOPs
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot core instruments and support its users
- Maintains accurate documentation in compliance with SOPs and appropriate federal and local regulations. Uploads study records to electronic notebook in a timely manner.
- Perform routine laboratory duties including ordering supplies and reagents in a timely manner as required.
- Actively assists with cell sorting and data analysis, experimental design, choice of control samples, optimization of flow cytometry protocols, instrument settings
- Training of users on self-service flow Cytometers
- Assist with preparing and updating SOPs
Secondary functions:
- Perform aseptic cell culture and processing
- Sample preparation (staining) for flow cytometry experiments per study design and follow SOPs to execute experiments.

Work environment:
This position works in a typical office and/or clinical lab environment with moderate noise levels and uses phone, computer, office equipment and supplies on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, pathogens and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, risk of electrical shock, sharps or cuts, while performing tests.

Your profile
Required education and experience
- REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science related field.
- Two years of full-time biological laboratory work experience.
Preferred education and experience
- Work experience in multi-user core facility is highly preferred
- Experience in performing multicolor flow cytometry is highly preferred
- Knowledge and experience with flow cytometry software (DIVA, FlowJo)
- The preferred applicant will have an Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences with 2 years’ experience in research laboratory using flow and FACS technologies
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
