Lab Maintenance Specialist

Overview
We are currently seeking a Full Time LABORATORY MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST to support our LAB AND FACILITIES team. This position will work in Houston, Texas. The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for equipment maintenance, upkeeps, and documentation under Lab General department, as well as to coordinate with equipment owners across all departments and assist with facility-related projects.  
Your mission
The main responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to the following tasks:
  • Perform daily gas tank inventory, place order in a timely manner to ensure all equipment have adequate gas supply at all times.  
  • Share responsibilities with the Lab Support for in-house equipment maintenance.  
  • Responsible for new equipment purchase, coordinate with vendor for pricing, delivery, and installation of Lab General department.  
  • Responsible for secondary monitoring of temperature sensitive equipment and CLIA laboratory, including system maintenance and calibration, alerts, deviation, reports.  
  • Be the first point of contact for lab personnel to act upon an equipment failure or emergency.  
  • Coordinate and assist all equipment owners across all departments to ensure lab equipment are properly housed and maintained.  
  • Schedule and coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and communicating with lab personnel to ensure the highest level of lab productivity.
  • Responsible for general facility cleanliness and assisting with other facility-related projects.  
  • Responsible for filing and keeping track of equipment usage logs, service reports, calibration reports and other equipment-related documentation to ensure Quality and Safety compliance, address equipment documentation discrepancies as needed.  
  • Coordinate cold storages and chemical rooms reagents clean-out.  
  • Coordinate with Quality Department during audit and associated deviation investigation.  
  • Assist with equipment move and new equipment set- up for new facility.  
  • Other duties assigned by Lab Manager.
Your profile
The qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology/ Life Science/ Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or any other related field.  
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in biotech industry and regulated environment.
  • Experience working with laboratory equipment is a must, including but not limited to: incubators, freezers, cold rooms, biological safety cabinets, centrifuges, bead baths, water baths, automated cellometers, microscopes, controlled rate freezers, liquid nitrogen storages, gas detection system, pipettes.  
  • Knowledge in GDP, GMP and GDP.
  • Occupational hazards and standards safety practices.  
  • Experience in equipment services and warranty is highly preferred.
  • Facility experience is highly preferred, including but not limited to electricals, repairs, constructions.  
  • Comfort and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
