Director and Department Head TCR Delivery and Validation*

Overview
We are currently seeking a full-time Director and Department Head TCR Delivery and Validation* to support our team in pre-clinical development of T cell receptors for innovative immunotherapeutic products. You will lead the department TCR Delivery and Validation, which consists of three experienced research teams. You will report to the Vice President TCR Research. The department focuses on the development and implementation of next generation gene engineering approaches for TCR-T immunotherapy as well as the pre-clinical safety validation of TCR candidates for both adoptive cell therapy and bispecific approaches. 
 
You will work within the Immatics Discovery Unit, interacting with colleagues from other research departments in a highly interdisciplinary environment. Your analytical reasoning and action-oriented style as well as your organization and communication skills will contribute to the global team’s success. The position can be located in Tuebingen, Munich or Germany home-based with regular presence in Tübingen.
Your mission
Your key functions and main responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Provide leadership, contribute to and shape direction and strategy of the department
  • Interact with other department heads, team leads, project management and development leads to advance TCR focused research into clinical applications
  • Manage cross-functional projects according to business priorities within desired timelines and budget
  • Support international collaborations with pharma partners
  • Support research related efforts in business development and intellectual property
  • Promote technology transfer from external partners and internal research groups
  • Actively follow global cutting edge technology advancements in respective research areas, driving innovation at Immatics

Your profile
  • PhD degree in Life Science
  • >10 years of experience in relevant area, preferably in pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • Strong background in immunology/ immune-oncology/ cell therapy
  • Strong proven leadership capabilities, team player, managerial skills
  • Expertise in some of the following areas: T cell immunotherapy and pre-clinical drug development, viral/ non-viral gene delivery systems, pre-clinical safety strategies for T cell therapies, experience with different T cell subsets (including gamma delta T cells), primary cell culture models
  • Research record demonstrated by publications, presentations and/ or patents
