We are currently seeking full/ part-time a

Scientist Bioinformatics - Machine Learning (w/m/d)

to support our R&D team to develop innovative immunotherapeutic products for cancer therapy.

You will work in Tübingen in a preclinical interdisciplinary environment with colleagues from Discovery, Immunology and Bioinformatics. Your analytical reasoning and your organizational skills will contribute to the team’s success.

We offer a wide range of responsibilities in the field of statistical data analysis and machine learning. Your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Training and evaluation of classification models on sequence and quantitative data of Immatics’ target discovery database XPRESIDENT® for the discovery of novel immunotherapeutic HLA peptides
  • Development of novel models for target selection in precision medicine (Hilf et al. 2018, Nature)
  • Integrative analysis of a growing proprietary repository of transcriptome (RNA-seq) and
    HLA-peptidome data (LC-MS Mass spectrometry) for target identification (Zhang et al. 2018, Nat. Commun.)

Your profile

You hold a master’s degree or PhD in Bioinformatics or have successfully completed a similar training and are proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: R, Python, Perl, Java. You have a profound statistical background and are experienced in machine learning methods. You have knowledge of working in a Linux environment and are familiar with basic biological concepts and bioinformatics tools.

We expect a high degree of independent working, analytical reasoning and that you take careful processing and documenting of your results for granted. You embrace rapidly changing requirements with an open mind and show a high degree of flexibility in an environment which is marked by a constant striving for excellence. Your motivation is driven by your passion for innovation and science. You approach tasks in a structured, reliable and foresighted manner, combined with an elevated level of individual responsibility, enthusiasm and strong social skills.
